Carnists bringing up veganism to accuse vegans of always bringing up veganism.
Is there anything more iconic? jfc.
I ran two half-marathons, does that mean I can say that I technically ran a marathon?
Firefox too.
Ironically, the people who talk about Linux and veganism at inappropriate times the most are folks making this exact joke.
Now add cyclists to the list.
Add anything outside indoctrinated normalcy! Please I want to make fun of anybody doing something positive!!! Linux, bikes, animal welfare, running… They’re all trash!!! And they’re the ones mentioning it all the time! They’re the problem!!! hurhur hur dur!!!
if someone is banned from the community why does their post stay up or did they get banned for saying the n word and not the post?
Wow you’re telling me that a lazy, microsoft bootlicking, carnist is also a racist? I’m shocked.
Ok, so if they made good posts, but they did something bad and got banned.
Are we supposed to just un-person them? Pretend they didn’t exist? What if they made actually useful posts?
Seems dumb to me.
A ban isn’t “un-personing” someone, it’s a temporary restriction on their engagement with one particular community, as a consequence for bad behavior. If that restriction doesn’t actually happen though, it doesn’t seem like a very effective consequence.
Either way, best to just follow the community rules, blend in, occasionally say what you need to, and never get too comfortable or used to any one community, or human comodity.
This person literally asked about marathons though
Why was op banned?
The modlog says for being a bot.
To be fair, I never experienced some linux user talking about it randomly. On the other hand, ai users are so annoying! Every time they’re around, they’re asking whether we saw the latest model, which one we like the most (assuming we use, as if it was a rule, and getting shocked or skeptical if we say we don’t), and stuff like that
i use arch btw
It was back then, before elitist Linux users were either forced out, as those also treated Linux not as an OS, but as a special clubhouse. Many of them went back to Windows of all things.
The hardest thing about hating AI isn’t that they’re sycophants, nor that they enable any old dim-wit to pretend to understand any old subject. It’s organically bringing up how much they suck in every conversation. I should know, I hate 'em
I love when people share their interests and hobbies with me.
OP’s interest is racism.
So, like Pokemon roleplay and TTRPG’s?
Sure but there is a difference between talking about something you find exciting, and “humblebragging”
Lazy op, nothing credit to the original artist.

He has an amazing Pokemon parody series.
I give you this: https://loadingartist.com/comic/let-me-sin/

How them nips doin

Ha
Never met a vegan who did that. It’s just that most omnis can’t differentiate between systemic criticism and personal insult.
When you phrase systemic criticisms as personal insults, I can see why they might get the two confused…
How do you know someones a carnist? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you.
Yeah I haven’t seen many vegan memes around here but the carnism passes without question.
I should know. I’ve eaten at two vegan restaurants.
In my work, for years they didn’t knew I’m vegan (granted, i work mostly remotely and go to the office one or two weeks every few months, as its in a different city), but once i mentioned why i didn’t grab x item from the cafeteria menu, and just the lentils, i casually mentioned it.
Now, for some reason, that person that i was with is the one that mention to everyone in almost every conversation that im vegan, almost unprompted, when for some reason somebody is discussing about food.
I know that the coworker hasn’t been a dick and showed interest when making questions and all, but i don’t really understand why it has to announce that Im vegan if i haven’t do it nor pushed my views onto others coworkers
There is very little personal to talk about that gets organically brought up in the workplace, I’ve found. Maybe they are trying to include you more or latching on to something that is genuinely interesting instead of the boring normal shit like talking about the weather, sports, or more work.
Coworker in random conversation: “Here, have something vegan instead.”
* Pushes @[email protected] towards conversation partner. *
As someone that has known many vegans over the years, there are definitely some that make it part of their core personality and make sure everybody knows. Most don’t but some do. Because people are people.
cook, don’t 🙊
People don’t realize how often they bring up their carnism because it’s an unexamined belief. But vegans notice.
Yeah it’s hilarious when carnists post memes like this. Zero self-awareness. Likewise with the upvoters.
So, is it still unethical if you only eat human meat?
Falls outside the scope. You will have to ask some other moral system.
Remember to properly cook it 'cos of salmonela.
Found the Linux user!
You’ve already stepped into the “I’m vegan btw” by saying something like omni lol
I eat meat and you’re being a twat.
Veganism is a good cause and we can all learn a thing or two about sustainability from them. Stop acting like they’re out here to take your oh-so-precious meat away from you. Eat a vegetable or two so you can get that turd out of your ass.
Veganism isn’t about sustainability. Plant-based diets are less harmful to the environment but eating a plant-based diet because you care about climate change has nothing to do with veganism.
Veganism is a moral philosophy on the treatment of animals. Animals are individuals. Individuals must only be treated as ends, never as means. The experiences of animals are real and matter. Their suffering is identical in nature to your own. It harms us when we take pleasure in cruelty and violence. The animals we create are owed the exact same unconditional love and protection as our own children.
Individuals must only be treated as ends, never as means.
It goes “never as a mere means.”
People always forget the “mere” part.
I don’t think you can speak for all vegans. It’s a diet, not a religion.
From the Wikipedia page: “People who follow a vegan diet for the benefits to the environment, their health or for religion are regularly also described as vegans.”
I can’t speak for all feminists either but I can tell you what feminism IS. There is not a prescriptive definition of every word, but there are for some words. The prescriptive definition exists, and you probably saw it on that exact page, but you chose to quote something else, in an argument on the internet that you don’t even care about. It’s amazing how non vegans always want to argue about stuff they just looked up this moment for the purpose of arguing about something they neither know or care about.
it’s neither a diet nor a religion. it’s a philosophy and way of living
Diet:
1
a: food and drink regularly provided or consumed
a diet of fruits and vegetables; a vegetarian diet
b: habitual nourishment
links between diet and disease
c: the kind and amount of food prescribed for a person or animal for a special reason
was put on a low-sodium diet
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/diet
Veganism is, by definition, a diet. It just happens to (often) be based on a philosophy by the same name.
You wouldn’t say “pragmatism isn’t an approach to problem solving! It’s a philosophy!” It’s both.
Dictionaries are often treated as the final arbiter in arguments over a word’s meaning, but they are not always well suited for settling disputes. The lexicographer’s role is to explain how words are (or have been) actually used, not how some may feel that they should be used, and they say nothing about the intrinsic nature of the thing named or described by a word, much less the significance it may have for individuals. When discussing concepts like veganism, therefore, it is prudent to recognize that quoting from a dictionary is unlikely to either mollify or persuade the person with whom one is arguing.

Found the vegan.
Veganism is a good cause a
i kind of doubt it.
I remember you! you’re the one recommending people download the fucking burger king app lol
I don’t know what this refers to, but it APPEARS to be an epic burn.
that’s a mischaracterization of the conversation
lol mhmm.

How the hell did you get all of that from my comment? Projecting much?
I‘m an omni myself. I prefer it over „non-vegan“.
the academic term that contrasts with “vegan” is “carnist”
I tried to go vegan secretly once, it was a disaster. This country fucking hates vegans and health.
Just lets skip omnivores, flexitarians and vegetarians.
Those are all carnists under the definition. Vegetarians have no problems with visiting horrible cruelty and violence on animals for their secretions and body parts. They just choose not to eat the actual flesh of animals, which, big deal from the animal’s point of view.
It just sounds weird. I guess it’s not wrong, but referring to the “normal” with a term that sounds like you’re referring to an outlier is weird.
this is the logic of people saying “cis is a slur”
No, it’s not. Quit projecting.
absolutely it is the exact same mental process
yes it is
So we shouldn’t call people heterosexual or cisgender?
It having a name is not treating it as an outlier. It’s just using the name. Omnivorous: you eat any kind of food.
I also thought calling people cishet was weird. Though I guess I got used to seeing it since I visit places where the terminology is common.
Most people who aren’t on social media much probably barely know the term.
just because you’re in the biggest “-ism” doesn’t mean you’re not in one.
Yes, but it doesn’t make it any less unusual to refer to it that way.
it may feel unusual to you
Yes? What’s your point?
Would you prefer bloodmouth? Or maybe animal abuser?
Well that would be really in the “I’m a vegan btw”. Way more so!
The four Ns of carnism: that it is “natural”, “normal”, “necessary”, and “nice”. It’s part of why you’ve never really thought about your carnism or the cruelty and violence you commit against vulnerable individuals every day. Why would you? It’s normal to do that!
carnism only has one n.
Nah bro.
Avoidance and denial are essential to bulwarking the carnist view of themselves and avoiding the pain of cognitive dissonance.
You sound so smart!
I am in awe of your self righteousness.
I’ve met many, most simply aren’t aware.
It’s funny that you mention most omnis can’t differentiate. Because if you’d shut up about being vegan, there wouldn’t even be a need to differentiate anything.
If you’d stop making hating vegans your entire personality the rest us normal meat eaters wouldn’t have to clarify how we aren’t one of you.
No idea what you’re talking about, I don’t hate vegans? Just saying some are ruining it for the rest of us and they often don’t even realize.
Ruining what? The abuse and murder of sentient beings?
That doesn’t make any sense.
You are quite literally saying “I, as a vegan, have never met one who did that.”
And you don’t understand how the comic applies to you too, like OP is saying?
No I‘ve neither said nor implied that I’m vegan.
I don’t know, I never mind if people bring up things they’re trying or into.
I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anyone bring up Linux or marathons like this, and I’ve only ever known one vegan who would. I’m speaking about IRL conversations. Even when I think back to social media posts, these things are somewhat rare still. But sure, be mad about people’s passions I guess?
