I know. The problem for them is that among all those that don’t care are more than enough that do care. The very thing they preached the democrats were going to do is going to be difficult for them to do. They are just one pissed off sub Forest Gump from getting shot it by their own base. Trump doesn’t know it but his handlers do.

I mean, they have a history of flipping their stance around 2A. Pro-2A flipped as soon as the Black Panthers armed themselves and did public displays of open carry within their rights.

Regan was very quick to sign gun control laws as soon as that happened.

Yes, they will, because their constituents aren’t going to sit by and let them squander a second opportunity.

Imagine if we let Hitler off the hook, and he went on to regain power. We did that once already. MAGA is a proven National Security Threat, and their members are Domestic Terrorists. If America is to survive, AND redeem itself on the eyes of its citizens, the world, and history, then MAGA needs to crushed and purged from our government and society.

We cannot allow MAGA to have ANOTHER chance to rise. IF we get another shot, we cannot fail this time, we must act decisively. And if our elected representatives won’t do it, then we have to force them to do it.

But it probably won’t be that hard. Any new Democrats are going to be elected on their enthusiasm to go after MAGA. That will give the current militant Dems more support, and inspire courage in some of the weaker members who are still around.

There were lots of people who said the Dems wouldn’t prosecute the Jan 6 Traitors, and more than 1000 of them ended up sentenced, and MANY went to jail.

Next time, we have to concentrate on the leaders, and then go after the foot soldiers.

We need to disband the GEO group, cut military funding in half at least, and start to dismantle the DHS that was created under false premises under Bush. It’s fucking embarrassing. All the signs have been pointing to this since I was in high school (decades ago) and everyone has been content to just sleepwalk towards it.

That’s the point though isn’t it? They went after all the small fry they let the big fish go and now he’s back in office causing even more chaos than he ever could have in his first term. In fact, I don’t think he could have done half as much damage as he has if he had gotten a second term immediately after his first. Instead he and his cohorts had four years to plan what to do once they took the White House back.

The Democrats had grown a backbone and prosecuted that fucker in the four years they had we wouldn’t be in this goddamn mess.

Oh, yeah, don’t even get me started. Biden came out of the gate with a Covid Vax program and an Economic Stimulus Plan that were wildly successful, and would have put him on the Top 15 among presidents.

But then he appointed the most feckless Republican in existence to be his AG and go after the biggest National Security Threat since the Civil War, and he dithered and slow-walked it for 2 years, allowing Trump to run out the clock. For that unbelievable failure, Biden will be relegated to the Bottom 15 among presidents.

We simply cannot allow that to happen a second time. If the Dems won’t act, the people will, and then weakling Dems will go down right along with them.

I agree, but Biden should have shown true leadership, and aggressive action against Trump and his henchmen.

When Biden took the oath of office, we ALL had watched the outrageous Insurrection only a few weeks before. The moment he stepped off the podium after taking the oath, Biden would have been well within his Constitutional and Presidential right to order the detainment of Trump and everyone involved in the Insurrection - his chief of staff, his children (who were all on scene), all those who spoke on the stage that day, etc.

That would have shown strength and leadership, and is EXACTLY what a Republican would have done. By not doing it, MAGA took it as cowardice and weakness (which it absolutely was), and amped up their abuse.

The Biden set the tone for his term, and it was weak, cowardly, indecisive, and insipid, and he will be deservedly reviled by history for it.

Much like fascism elsewhere, it’s not going away with elections. There was still (just) enough institutional cohesion last time. Even then, it took Mike Pence to, probably for the first time in his life, do the right thing. No matter the “election” result, the current set of muppets is never going to give this power away peacefully. Just imagine VP Couchlover in the place of Mike Pence on that fateful day. We’d probably have gotten a coup right then and there.

I recommend carpet bombing the entire country for a few years, either dropping two nukes on it or granting about a quarter of its territory to neighbouring countries (including ethnically cleansing those areas) as well as splitting the rest in half for a few decades, and finally keeping foreign troops around for the next 70 years and counting. It worked wonders for Japan and Germany, both of which have since become positive additions to the world community. Perhaps we should give that a try for the US? (this is obviously satire; I’m obviously not in favour of mass killings and ethnic cleansing…)

The Citizens didn’t sit still during the Biden era, we were screaming for punishment for them, but the Dem leadership was too cowardly to do anything about it, because as usual, they bought the MAGA line that they were being punished for their POLITICS.

That won’t happen a second time. They will act, or we will. Trump and his henchmen WILL face punishment for the CRIMES, not their politics, and our elected representatives will obey their oaths, and do their jobs, or they will face punishment themselves for their negligence and malpractice.

They will know that we aren’t playing around.

They’re scared shitless that Minnesotans will realize they can legally carry rifles (they need a handgun permit tho) and ICE only has pistols

They’re already out numbered 10-1 everytime they get out of their trucks.

CCWs don’t help, because they’re not a visual deterrent and the act of drawing would get you shot.

But a big fuck off rifle will make them get back in the truck. America has a dark history, so fuck it let’s co-opt it.

Let’s see how the racists feel when they get followed everywhere by a group of people with rifles.

I have a feeling bare minimum they won’t be so quick to escalate to violence.

That’s exactly what they’re looking for to justify escalation. “Look the protestors have rifles now, we need assault rifles.” The only alternative is to show up with enough people that they don’t have the bullets to stop them. Otherwise you’re playing into their hands.

An unprotected tank in a city is an easy target. Approach from the side or rear and get any large, hard object in the treads, and it’ll throw the track and be effectively immobilized.

Any tank driver will avoid driving over obstacles for this reason. It’s not a monster truck, so even a couple cars forming a barricade with either block them out, or make them go around, perhaps onto a street of your choosing.

Its worth looking into chemical reactions. Keep in mind a bomb is anything that holds pressure until it suddenly doesnt. With a little ingenuity you can make almost anything into a bomb, and there are jo personel defenses and few vehicular defenses against a properly prepared bomb.

No gun will save you from the government. They will always have more force than you. But if you can force them to come to you, you can control where engagements happen. The geneva convention only applies to governments, the rest of the world is not going to care about you using biological or chemical weapons against your government.

Get a gasmask, bleach and ammonia mixed make chlorine gas. Leave barrels of gasoline around your property and practice shooting. You can get mercury out of old thermometers and use them to make tilt switches so that when someone steps on something, it activates. Timothy mcveigh (horrible dude, im not glorifying him here) showed how effective fertilizer bombs can be.

To be clear, im not advocating for any of this, simply listing your options.

Gasoline, Diesel, napalm if you can get it, basically all vehicles are susceptible to having their engine compartment lit on fire since even if it doesn’t destroy it outright something important will get cooked. Otherwise pits work great if you can build them, undermining a road could backfire but blowing up a overflow cistern could have a similar effect if needed.

        1. Powerful, often exclusionary, populist nationalism centered on cult of a redemptive, “infallible” leader who never admits mistakes.

        2. Political power derived from questioning reality, endorsing myth and rage, and promoting lies.

        3. Fixation with perceived national decline, humiliation, or victimhood.

        4. White Replacement “Theory” used to show that democratic ideals of freedom and equality are a threat.Oppose any initiatives or institutions that are racially, ethnically, or religiously harmonious.

        5. Disdain for human rights while seeking purity and cleansing for those they define as part of the nation.

        6. Identification of “enemies”/scapegoats as a unifying cause. Imprison and/or murder opposition and minority group leaders.

        7. Supremacy of the military and embrace of paramilitarism in an uneasy, but effective collaboration with traditional elites. Fascists arm people and justify and glorify violence as “redemptive”.

        8. Rampant sexism.

        9. Control of mass media and undermining “truth”.

        10. Obsession with national security, crime and punishment, and fostering a sense of the nation under attack.

        11. Religion and government are intertwined.

        12. Corporate power is protected and labor power is suppressed.

        13. Disdain for intellectuals and the arts not aligned with the fascist narrative.

        14. Rampant cronyism and corruption. Loyalty to the leader is paramount and often more important than competence.

        15. Fraudulent elections and creation of a one-party state.

        16. Often seeking to expand territory through armed conflict.

1: the quote is from the declaration of independence, not the US Constitution that was written 13 years later after the initial weak federal government was found to be too weak.

2: 11 of the ratified amendments were essentially part of the bargain to get said Constitution passed. And absent the civil war amendments, none of the subsequent amendments were passed due to violence. (Maybe you’re thinking of the VRA?)

3: that SCOTUS has devolved into a creative writing exercise in “how can we pretend the Constitution doesn’t say what it says”, apparently Jefferson was right and enumerated rights were a mistake. (Given the benefit of hindsight, an equally difficult process for removing rights recognized by Congress or SCOTUS would have been better.)

I mean there needed to be a rule that SCOTUS couldn’t grant immunity to lawsuits or exempt the government from lawsuits.

One obvious sign the constitution was not designed with much thought is that the Supreme Court and the Electoral College are both examples of what people in the 1700s thought would create apolitical processes with diametrically opposing theories (permanent = apolitical, temporary = apolitical) and the electoral college is definitely more successful so far in achieving its stated goals.

The point of the electoral college isn’t to be apolitical, it’s to guarantee that the president is elected by the states and not the people. That was part of the compromise between the national and federal sides of the government. Though since the capping of the number in the House the government has been lopsided toward federal.

They had no mandate to write the thing. Technically, if they failed to get popular support, they could have been considered guilty of treason. So, in short, it was propaganda to get people to just go ahead and sign on to what they were doing

and my position is that it never truly meant “all men” when it referred to equality, etc. we all know that anyway. i just wanted to remind folks that the existence of things like amendments means the document and mindset is not immutable and depending on the folks in charge can be changed. sometimes even reversing prior amendments!

in short: stop pretending the declaration and constitution mean anything. at all. in this day and age most critically.

Man, it gets tiring, doesn’t it? The way people basically worship the existence of certain documents, in spite of having no clue what the authors were actually talking about. Obviously this goes for religion as well as politics, cause they’re fundamentally the exact same thing.

Oh, and speaking of the founding documents not being immutable, I heard that Jefferson actually made some quote to the effect that he expected us to completely rewrite everything every 20 to 30 years or so… Implies that the so-called founding fathers did not intend for the Constitution to be set in stone in any way. But instead everybody swears oaths to a goddamn piece of paper, giving it a quasi-holy status in our culture.

So basically all I’m saying is I’m right there with ya!

The list of grievances. See any parallels?

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:

For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:

For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.
