But then he appointed the most feckless Republican in existence to be his AG and go after the biggest National Security Threat since the Civil War, and he dithered and slow-walked it for 2 years, allowing Trump to run out the clock. For that unbelievable failure, Biden will be relegated to the Bottom 15 among presidents.
We simply cannot allow that to happen a second time. If the Dems won’t act, the people will, and then weakling Dems will go down right along with them.
It wasn’t just Biden. The entire democratic party was complicit in allowing what is happening now.

When Biden took the oath of office, we ALL had watched the outrageous Insurrection only a few weeks before. The moment he stepped off the podium after taking the oath, Biden would have been well within his Constitutional and Presidential right to order the detainment of Trump and everyone involved in the Insurrection - his chief of staff, his children (who were all on scene), all those who spoke on the stage that day, etc.
That would have shown strength and leadership, and is EXACTLY what a Republican would have done. By not doing it, MAGA took it as cowardice and weakness (which it absolutely was), and amped up their abuse.
The Biden set the tone for his term, and it was weak, cowardly, indecisive, and insipid, and he will be deservedly reviled by history for it.
Much like fascism elsewhere, it’s not going away with elections. There was still (just) enough institutional cohesion last time. Even then, it took Mike Pence to, probably for the first time in his life, do the right thing. No matter the “election” result, the current set of muppets is never going to give this power away peacefully. Just imagine VP Couchlover in the place of Mike Pence on that fateful day. We’d probably have gotten a coup right then and there.
I recommend carpet bombing the entire country for a few years, either dropping two nukes on it or granting about a quarter of its territory to neighbouring countries (including ethnically cleansing those areas) as well as splitting the rest in half for a few decades, and finally keeping foreign troops around for the next 70 years and counting. It worked wonders for Japan and Germany, both of which have since become positive additions to the world community. Perhaps we should give that a try for the US? (this is obviously satire; I’m obviously not in favour of mass killings and ethnic cleansing…)

The US military is great at fighting other militaries. It’s terrible at fighting resistance movements. It’s why it lost in Iraq and Afghanistan.
And Vietnam, and south America, it’s why the Russians can’t take Ukraine. When the citizens are willing to be part of the war effort you cannot stop an insurgency without removing that will to fight, or killing every single person.

Also, they’d be much more likely to send in IFVs, like Bradleys. They’re much “better” equipped to deal with “people”.
An unprotected tank in a city is an easy target. Approach from the side or rear and get any large, hard object in the treads, and it’ll throw the track and be effectively immobilized.
Any tank driver will avoid driving over obstacles for this reason. It’s not a monster truck, so even a couple cars forming a barricade with either block them out, or make them go around, perhaps onto a street of your choosing.

No gun will save you from the government. They will always have more force than you. But if you can force them to come to you, you can control where engagements happen. The geneva convention only applies to governments, the rest of the world is not going to care about you using biological or chemical weapons against your government.
Get a gasmask, bleach and ammonia mixed make chlorine gas. Leave barrels of gasoline around your property and practice shooting. You can get mercury out of old thermometers and use them to make tilt switches so that when someone steps on something, it activates. Timothy mcveigh (horrible dude, im not glorifying him here) showed how effective fertilizer bombs can be.
To be clear, im not advocating for any of this, simply listing your options.
Gasoline, Diesel, napalm if you can get it, basically all vehicles are susceptible to having their engine compartment lit on fire since even if it doesn’t destroy it outright something important will get cooked. Otherwise pits work great if you can build them, undermining a road could backfire but blowing up a overflow cistern could have a similar effect if needed.

the fact that “amendments” exist and were won by bloody fights and protests tells one that the founding of the US was never, ever, about equality or rights endowed by a creator.

1: the quote is from the declaration of independence, not the US Constitution that was written 13 years later after the initial weak federal government was found to be too weak.
2: 11 of the ratified amendments were essentially part of the bargain to get said Constitution passed. And absent the civil war amendments, none of the subsequent amendments were passed due to violence. (Maybe you’re thinking of the VRA?)
3: that SCOTUS has devolved into a creative writing exercise in “how can we pretend the Constitution doesn’t say what it says”, apparently Jefferson was right and enumerated rights were a mistake. (Given the benefit of hindsight, an equally difficult process for removing rights recognized by Congress or SCOTUS would have been better.)
I mean there needed to be a rule that SCOTUS couldn’t grant immunity to lawsuits or exempt the government from lawsuits.
One obvious sign the constitution was not designed with much thought is that the Supreme Court and the Electoral College are both examples of what people in the 1700s thought would create apolitical processes with diametrically opposing theories (permanent = apolitical, temporary = apolitical) and the electoral college is definitely more successful so far in achieving its stated goals.
The point of the electoral college isn’t to be apolitical, it’s to guarantee that the president is elected by the states and not the people. That was part of the compromise between the national and federal sides of the government. Though since the capping of the number in the House the government has been lopsided toward federal.

They had no mandate to write the thing. Technically, if they failed to get popular support, they could have been considered guilty of treason. So, in short, it was propaganda to get people to just go ahead and sign on to what they were doing
and my position is that it never truly meant “all men” when it referred to equality, etc. we all know that anyway. i just wanted to remind folks that the existence of things like amendments means the document and mindset is not immutable and depending on the folks in charge can be changed. sometimes even reversing prior amendments!

Oh, and speaking of the founding documents not being immutable, I heard that Jefferson actually made some quote to the effect that he expected us to completely rewrite everything every 20 to 30 years or so… Implies that the so-called founding fathers did not intend for the Constitution to be set in stone in any way. But instead everybody swears oaths to a goddamn piece of paper, giving it a quasi-holy status in our culture.
